Luv kush Ganga Barrage
Purpose - To solve the problem of drinking water in Kanpur district, which is getting worse, the state government has decided to provide 36 Cusec water to Jal Nigam by constructing a barrage on the holy banks of Jeevandayi and Patit Pavani Ganga.
Construction - In this sequence, the project of barrage construction under Ramganga organization was prepared by the Executive Engineer, Barrage Construction Section-2, Kanpur, which was approved by the Urban Development Department of the government in the year 1995 for Rs 173.00 crore, under which a 30-gate barrage was constructed. It was proposed to go, there was also a provision for land purchase in the said project.Due to the increase in the cost of land and increase in the rates of some important items over time, the said project was revised, which was approved by the government in the year 2004 for Rs 412.44 crore.The construction of barrage on river Ganga was completed in 2006 under the Nawabganj area of Kanpur city by the Urban Development Department. After the construction of the barrage, it was named as Luv-Kush Ganga Barrage, Kanpur, after the son of Lord Rama, which we know today as Luv-Kush Ganga Barrage.After the construction of the said barrage, as a result of the efficient operation of the Irrigation Department, drinking water is being supplied to lakhs of people in district Kanpur city through pipeline by Jal Nigam Kanpur, due to which the drinking water problem of Kanpur city could be solved.
Benefits - Through the Luv-Kush Ganga barrage built in the district Kanpur city, not only the problem of drinking water of the district Kanpur city was solved, but the boat club funded by the Kanpur Development Authority in the district Kanpur was constructed by Barrage Construction Section-2 Kanpur, which At present, Kanpur city has become a focal point of attraction for tourism, entertainment as well as boating.
